Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). At the age five she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she studied at the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized she would like to be an actor and for several years, she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. At the age of ten the actress took part in as the lead in several Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. The casting process began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first cinematic appearance was as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film broke all records in terms of its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. The film was praised by critics and the performance of three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph in Britain that is distributed widely the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the most outstanding young actor in an feature Film. Emma was recognized five times in recognition of her performance in the movie.
